“We wanted to create something different and play around with the established category of product design catalogues, and maybe disrupt it a bit. Instead of a perfectly styled interior full of unnaturally perfect products, models, and artificial situations, we worked with an aesthetic that shocks, attracts and forces you to think. The prize is a type of confirmation that it was worth the risk. With this hidden beauty, we want to inspire Europe and all the world,“ says the global marketing director of LASVIT, Mr Marcel Náhlovský. The Beauty of Glass works with the imagination and ideas of its readers. Browsing the catalogue is a game where the readers discover clues hidden in photos and texts, verses and typography. The ED Awards festival is an arena for the most prevalent trends and themes currently impacting European design and illustration. The jury, comprised of design journalists, academics, and critics, looked for new design connections and reflected on the changing trends in contemporary design. They received submissions from creative agencies, design studios and freelancers from Iceland to Cyprus, from Portugal to Russia. A great part of last year’s creative production competed in 42 different categories, covering everything from branding and packaging, to illustrations and digital applications.
