A Game of Contrasts in Pompidou Brussels

LASVIT is presenting the LiquidKristal Pavilion, designed by Ross Lovegrove. This innovative installation of organic-like glass panels took its inspiration from the fluidity of nature. “LiquidKristal combines technology and design to create an architectural product, replacing the enormous monotony typical of large glass structures with natural surfaces and their abundant variety, richness and coherence. We are very proud to be part of this exhibition and present such an innovative and inspiring product as LiquidKristal,” says Maxim Velčovský, LASVIT’s art director.

LASVIT´s pavilion made of LiquidKristal is the newest addition to the former Citroën garages in Brussels, where the exhibition takes place. The venue at Place de l´Yser was conceived in the early 1930s by André Citroën for his new car factory and was transformed by Marcel Van Goethem into one of Brussels’ most iconic buildings: a Modernist cathedral of steel and glass.

The combination of delicate glass in the spaces initially dedicated to car production creates an extraordinary, striking aesthetic. It is a game of contrasts, where furniture from the car manufacturer’s offices stands beside design pieces from the collections of Centre Pompidou and other artworks. The venue was opened to the public on May 5th.
